Well who wouldn’t be excited about being invited to the White House by the world’s most powerful man? It is hard to believe but this is what happened: I woke up and checked my email inbox as usual so that I can reply to a few of the numerous mails I get from my hassles as a blogger and read a few newsletters from several tech blogs but what did I find? An email with the subject “White House Invitation”.
Well at first I did not believe the news but after a confirmation tweet from the White House and later from President Barack Obama, I can now confirm to everyone that I am slated to meet the great man from Chicago at the White House next week during a bloggers’ roundtable that the President is hosting to discuss emerging issues and the role bloggers play in highlighting them.
Barack Obama: How come he stumbled on my name?
The email read in part, “Your selection to attend the bloggers’ roundtable with the President of the United States was as a result of your growing influence in the blogging community and your sincere articulation of facts as they are represented.” It sill added, “President Obama and First Lady Michelle have been keen readers of your blog and can’t wait to meet you and also introduce you to their two daughters who are both very passionate about blogging.”
Well, envy me as you may guys but in a week’s time, I will be strolling along the well-kept lawns of the building that African-American slaves built for the commander-in-chief of the world’s only superpower.
