Instagram for Android: It is Coming

If like myself you are an avid Android enthusiast then those iOS device tossing friends of yours will have to find another killer app to flaunt in your presence. Instagram announced on their website yesterday that their long-awaited Android application will soon be available on the popular platform. Yes, Instagram for Android is coming. Soon.

Yeah, yours truly successfully registered for updates on the upcoming Instagram for Android app

Though a release date has not yet been announced, it is on the way and Instagram have opened a page on their website where you can register to receive news about the upcoming photo killer app on your favourite platform and of course the big update when Instagram is eventually released.

Instagram stands out as far as photography on modern day devices is concerned. It has been widely acclaimed on the iPhone and is a darling of App Store shoppers. For long, I have wanted to use Instagram to take photos, give them a little touch and pop! Upload them to my social network profiles. Yeah and pin them to Pinterest too.

So head over to their Android subscription page and begin the long or short wait to the best photo app anywhere.

Impressive photo thanks to the wonders of Instagram

I’ve been using Retro, Vignette Demo and Pixlr-o-matic to give my cherished snapshots a vintage look but the mother of them all is coming. I hope it will be free and no pricing is on/in sight. I can’t wait to review the app here.

To Blackberry, Symbian, and Windows Phone 7 users, no love lost but you still have to wait.

**UPDATE**

Instagram for Android eventually landed on the Google Play. There have been developments centered on Instagram recently including a $ 1 billion buyout by Facebook and it hitting the 10 million downloads mark on the Google Play store in less than six days.
